Advanced Robotics Research at ABB
Abstract:
The presentation will highlight advanced robotics research at ABB in the areas of collaborative robotics, robotics safety, robot intelligence to achieve ease of use and ROS based research interface for YuMi robot.
The presentation will also highlight the advanced robotics research in field and service robotics for future use of industrial robots in hospital automation and mining automation.

- Dr. Xiaolong Feng is Global Research Area Manager for Mechanics at ABB Corporate Research. He is based at ABB in Västerås, Sweden.
- Prior to this position, he was Corporate Research Fellow in Mechanical Design Optimization at ABB Corporate Research.
- He received Ph.D. at Stockholm University in 1998 in the research area of modeling and simulation of Quantum Mechanical systems.
- He has been working with modeling, simulation, design, optimization of industrial robotic manipulators since 2000.
- He has more than 40 scientific publications in journals and conference proceedings.
- He has been working as a project manager since 2002 in a number of large research projects in the area of efficient and optimal design of industrial robot manipulators.
- He was awarded Docent in Machine Design at Linköping University in 2011 and adjunct professor since 2012.
