Professor Shisheng Huang was born in Dapu, Guangdong in Oct. 1938. He received his B.S. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, South China University of Technology (SCUT) in 1964, and became a faculty member at the same university as a teaching assistant and a lecturer. Subsequently, he worked at School of Mechanical Engineering, South China University of Technology. Mr. Huang worked as a visiting scholar at University Hannover of West Germany from 1980 to 1982. He became a full professor and doctoral supervisor in 1986 and 1990, respectively. He became expert obtaining the special allowance of State Council in 1991. He has ever been deputy director of the staff room, deputy director of the office of academic research, head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, vice president of South China University of Technology, and president of Huizhou University. He hosted 76 national or provincial research projects, won 23 national invention awards or national scientific and technological awards, published 13 books and 536 journal articles, supervised 90 doctors and masters. He innovated the new generation inverter power supply technology based on MOSFET or IGBT, then industrialized intelligent inverter welding power supply and robotic welding technology. He led the new development of Chinese new generation arc welding power equipment technology. In 2016, he presided over many key technologies such as the multifunctional underwater welding robot for nuclear power stations.
He served as a member of the council in Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES) and a member of deliberation of National Natural Science Foundation of China. He was a member of the science and technology committee of the State Education Commission of China, managing director of Chinese Welding Society (CWS), deputy director of National Standard Committee for electric welding machine, deputy director of National Technical Committee for electric welding machine, government science and technology decision-making consultant of Guangzhou City, committee member of Nuclear Power Robot Engineering Laboratory of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC), deputy director of Guangdong Key Laboratory of Modern Welding Technology. Professor Shisheng Huang has been recommended as the effective candidate of academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering for 8 times in total.
