On Sep. 2nd. 2009, the summary seminar of the Space 800 Institute-Shanghai Jiaotong University Welding Unit Laboratory was held in the Space 800 Institute. Prof. YiXiong WU, Dean of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University, PingGuo ZHU, leader of the Space Eight Academy, and HuiMing WANG, Party Secretary of the Space 800 Institute, who represented Director of the Space 800 Institute DING Fucun, attended the seminar.

Professors of the Welding Engineering Institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University, including Professor CHEN Shanben, LU Hao and TANG Xinhua, Associate Professor LIN Tao and  HUANG Jian, managers of the Space 800 Institute, including Deputy Director LI Lezhou and HOU Zhengquan, Vice General Technologist YANG Xueqin, Chief of the Unit Laboratory WU Longfei, Senior Engineer LI Laiping also attended this seminar. Besides them, many teachers and students of Shanghai Jiaotong University, along with employees of the Space 800 Institute were present at the seminar too. The seminar was presided by QIU Lixin, Chief of Technological Center, the Space 800 Institute.

In the seminar, first, the former director of the unit laboratory reported the lab's work in the past 4 years. Since founded, the laboratory had successfully applied for 26 scientific research projects, including 1 basic advanced project of The General Armament Department, 2 materials and processing advanced projects, 2 processing quality improving projects and 2 Space funding projects of the Space Eight Academy's, 1 Shanghai Natural Science Fund project, 1 National Natural Science Fund project, 17 developing fund projects of the 800 Institute, all of which obtain totally more than 2 million RMB funds. In addition, two parts of the lab had had technical exchanges about 20 times, together published more than 10 papers, applied for 4 patents and trained 4 engineering masters.

Then MA Hongbo, doctor of Intelligentized Robotic Welding Technology Labaratory, Shanghai Jiaotong University, gave a account about research progress of "the 11th five -year plan" advanced research project--《Robotic Arc Welding Technology of the Spacecraft New Aluminium Alloy Structure》. After that, LI Laiping, Senior Engineer of the 800 Institute, summarized the unit lab's advanced projects. To a further exchange and cooperation, LI Tao, Associate Professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University, detailedly introduced the Welding Engineering Institute, which affiliate School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University.

After the seminar, WU Yixiong, Director of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University delivered to WANG Huiming the《China's Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award》,the unit first prize certificate on "the Key Technology and Application Research of Intelligentized Robotic Welding", while Professor CHEN Shanben delivered to LI Lezhou, YANG Xueqin and LI Laiping the personal first prize certificate of the《China's Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award》,and the personal second prize certificate of the 《Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Award》,respectively.

WANG Huiming, Party Secretary of the Space 800 Institute declared the make-up of the unit lab, and WU Longfei, the new director of the unit laboratory issued a future planning.

At last, representatives gave a high praise about the unit lab's works over these few years. Bilateral leaders, giving some guiding opinions and pointing at some current defects of the unit lab, hope, according to this seminar, to recommend more and more achievements to relevant departments and to promote the Space career's rapid development.
