Biography
Jijin Xu is an Associate Professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research combines experimental characterization and computational modelling to study welding mechanics, superalloy additive manufacturing, joint strengthening and toughening, and residual-stress measurement and control.
Research & achievements
- Welding mechanics and numerical modelling: Welding thermal processes, mechanical response and residual stresses, with numerical analysis of welded structures.
- Superalloy additive manufacturing: Cracking and microstructural evolution in directed energy deposition, including composition, process and external-field effects.
- Joint strengthening and stress control: Strengthening and toughening mechanisms, and residual-stress measurement and control for improved joint reliability.
