Field welding of pressure pipes must accommodate variations in groove location, dimensions and material conditions. This project develops visual models of grooves and welds, extracting geometric features for process selection and multilayer, multipass planning.
The software scope includes a welding-process database, dynamic planning algorithms and operation and maintenance functions. Integration with magnetic crawling welding equipment supports a staged route from laboratory studies to horizontal and inclined shaft applications.
The validation plan addresses different material-strength classes through laboratory welding, simulated environments and field trials, with welding-procedure qualification and nondestructive testing used to assess process suitability.
